First opened in 2021 in response to a growing number of tragedies at the Humer Bridge, this wellbeing hub situated at the peaceful Humber Bridge Country Park provides emotional wellbeing support to the whole community, from those looking to have a cuppa and a chat, those looking for a like-minded group to enjoy the woodland with, or those in need of referral to specialist support.

On a mission to build a fairer world, this UK based charity founded in 2021 is fundraising for poverty alleviation, water and sanitation, health, education and empowerment of women in developing countries. Their latest project is focussed on helping the school children of tea-workers in Bangladesh to escape the poverty cycle through education.

Lab7even helps young people aged between 13-20 from disadvantaged backgrounds in the Cardiff area, particularly those from minorities or those who are at risk of criminal exploitation, by running weekly music sessions with mentors, funding studio time, providing musical equipment, and facilitating trips and events. They break down the barriers the young people are facing, build self-esteem, provide positive role models and ultimately a new path into the creative industries.

The Peel Project was launched in 2021 at Peel Street Park in the Central Ward in Hull’s City Centre. Residents were concerned that the park had become an unsafe place, despite being a much needed resource for this community, and decided to set up an organisation that could bring the community together and make Peel Street Park a safe and inclusive environment once more.

Access the Dales exists to break down the barriers that prevent people living with disabilities from enjoying the great outdoors by making all-terrain mobility vehicles available to borrow at outdoor locations in the Yorkshire Dales. After meeting Access the Dales and its founder Debbie, when the charity was a successful Grants for Good finalist, the Matthew Good Foundation went on to fund this video to help raise awareness.

2019 - 2025

The Junction Community Hub is open in Hedon, East Yorkshire, every Thursday from 2pm to 4pm. Visitors will find a friendly face, good coffee and cake, a warm atmosphere and a programme of activities and events each week from singing, crafts, quiz and more. The Junction is also supported by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Alzheimers UK and is a Dementia Friendly group.

This team of volunteers are on hand to help the most vulnerable in Hull’s busy areas every weekend from 9 pm until 3am. The team of 26 volunteers have saved lives by being there to respond to situations quickly, carrying equipment such as foil blankets and phone power banks, to ensure a safe journey home for people of all ages. As well as protecting individuals, they also alleviate the burden on ambulance crews, and provide valuable experience to the medical students who volunteer for them.

Working Wardrobe aids individuals seeking employment. Set up after the covid pandemic highlighted the prevalence of clothing poverty, their four hubs in South Wales provide quality workwear and interview attire to boost confidence and help people into careers. Also, by collaborating with community partners they repurpose any clothing donations they can’t use, ensuring no item goes to landfill.

Stand Tall was founded by experienced healthcare professionals from Wales, and is their idea for tackling the gap in provision that leads to men being three times more likely to take their own life. The organisation offers an 8-week strength and wellbeing course specifically designed for men’s mental health. By integrating physical sessions and mental health workshops, the program focusses on fitness whilst fostering companionship, addressing issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, and ADHD.

Fathoms Free is dedicated to safeguarding marine wildlife and the environment in Cornwall by removing abandoned fishing gear and other marine debris. Known as Ghost Fishing Gear, this lost equipment endangers marine life through entanglement, and negatively affects marine ecosystems and food chains when it breaks down into microplastics. Fathoms Free urgently responds to reports to locate and remove ghost gear, preventing further harm.

Menopause and Cancer

Menopause and Cancer

Menopause and Cancer is a patient-advocacy organisation providing unique digital and in-person support to those over 18, with any cancer type, who experience menopause as a result of treatment or surgery. Dani Binnington founded Menopause and Cancer after being thrown into surgical menopause at 39, following a cancer diagnosis five years earlier, and receiving no information or support.
