Medical Advice for Runners: Unveiling Our Innovative New App
Announcing the launch of Race Ready, an innovative app designed to empower runners with important medical information, raising awareness of how to train and race safely. The app, developed in partnership with World Athletics and key figures from the London and Brighton Marathons, is the result of years of work to improve race medicine, inspired by the sudden death of our co-founder, Matthew Good, during a charity half-marathon.
“A Seed Was Sown”: How a Volunteering Day Sparked Major Support for Hull Schoolchildren and Spurn Point
Adam Walsh, CEO of the John Good Group has funded nine primary school trips to Spurn Point, giving around 270 disadvantaged pupils from Hull the chance to explore the local wildlife reserve for free. This initiative was sparked when Adam, during a corporate volunteering day, learned that the cost-of-living crisis had forced many schools to cut back on trips.
Corporate Volunteer Donates £4,850 in Tools to Spurn Point
Ben Norman, Chief Financial Officer of the John Good Group, recently made a generous donation of £4,850 worth of tools to the Spurn Point Conservation Team. The donation came after he observed the worn condition of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s equipment during a corporate volunteering day.

Matthew Good Foundation and John Good Group back maritime charity with film and fundraising
The Sailors’ Children’s Society, a Hull-based charity established over 200 years ago, supports disadvantaged children from various maritime sectors across the UK. The John Good Group and Matthew Good Foundation have collaborated to bolster the charity with initiatives including a documentary-style film and a fundraising cycle ride.
Annual Review 2023: Our biggest year yet sees over £300k granted to non-profits
Thanks to increased donations from the John Good Group, plus a growing business network, the Matthew Good Foundation celebrated its most impactful year yet in 2023, granting over £300,000 to charities and non-profits. 90% of funds awarded went to small charities (those with an annual income of less than £1 million), in line with the Foundation’s strategy to amplify the work of grassroots organisations.
