Back in March, before the UK went into lockdown, Tim Havard, based at London Gateway, was delighted to present Mark Moeller (Port Chaplain) of Tilbury Seafarers Centre with a cheque for £500 after applying to the Foundation to help improve the Centre’s outdoor space. Through his work for John Good Logistics, Tim works closely with the Seafarers centre regularly and wanted to do something to help.
The Centre provides accommodation for seafarers, both active & retired, ex-servicemen & others in need of accommodation. After spending as many as nine months at sea, the Seafarers Centre seeks to provide a place where seafarers will feel “at home”, where they can catch up with family and friends via the internet, relax in comfort with music & TV entertainment, purchase refreshments and souvenirs, and socialise with other crew members.
Tilbury Seafarers centre was very grateful for the donation. It will be using the donation to improve their outdoor space by providing an outdoor recreational area with parasols and furniture ready for people to enjoy in the summer.
