The Junction

The Junction Community Hub is open in Hedon, East Yorkshire, every Thursday from 2pm to 4pm. Visitors will find a friendly face, good coffee and cake, a warm atmosphere and a programme of activities and events each week from singing, crafts, quiz and more. The Junction is also supported by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Alzheimers UK and is a Dementia Friendly group.

2019 - 2025

In 2019, the Matthew Good Foundation awarded a grant of £6,000 over three years to ‘The Junction’, a community project at Hedon Methodist Church, to support and develop its community outreach. The funding will help to provide a programme of activities for all those attending The Junction every Thursday, training for volunteers in Dementia Awareness, support the costs of sessional workers and help towards a plan to appoint an administrator.

Matthew Good Foundation agrees further £15,000 of Funding

The Matthew Good Foundation has agreed to support the Hedon Methodist Church Community Hub with a grant of £15,000 over three years, building on previous funding which enabled the significant growth of the community hub. Since its inception, the project has expanded from a single weekly session supporting 10–20 people into a broader community offer engaging around 60 people per session. The appointment of a Community Manager has further strengthened delivery, enabling new initiatives including a parent and toddler group, expanded digital provision with local college involvement, and increased volunteer capacity.

This funding will help sustain the Community Manager role, which is essential to maintaining and developing the project’s impact. The role will oversee volunteer coordination, safeguarding, administration, community engagement and partnership working, while supporting future funding and expanding activities to reach younger generations. Continued support will ensure the long-term sustainability of the hub and the services it provides to the local community.
