John Good Group employees champion local rescue charities in Felixstowe and the Humber

John Good Group employees are encouraged to support local initiatives, charities or projects by applying to Champion them. In late 2020, we received applications from both our Hull and Felixstowe locations to champion two local search and rescue charities, Felixstowe Coast Patrol and Humber Rescue. Both charities received grants of £500 on behalf of Steve Pullen at Dan Shipping in Hull and Steve Giles at John Good Logistics in Felixstowe.

Humber Rescue is an independent charity that supplies fast response search and rescue operations on the Humber Estuary. Covering approximately 540 square miles of water including the River Hull, Trent, Ouse and the River Humber.

On nominating Humber Rescue, Steve Pullen said: “Based on the Hessle foreshore Humber Rescue is local to Dan Shipping and John Good Group’s, head office and is staffed by dedicated volunteers who brave the elements the Humber and tributaries can throw at them to serve the population of the various stretches of water-ways, also sometimes assisting visiting vessels/crafts calling at the various ports/jetties.”

Felixstowe Coast Patrol is also a small local charity that has been saving lives and performing rescues amongst one of the busiest seaways in the UK for more than 20 years. Its dedicated group of volunteers ensure that Felixstowe and the surrounding area remain safe through regular patrols and promoting sea safety.

“Our jobs and livelihoods depend on the sea in Felixstowe. The volunteers at Felixstowe Coast Patrol keep the residents and visitors safe each day. They are some of our local heroes.”
