Two of our Hull members, Becki Winter and Tracy Keenan-Smith, have championed HER Breast Friends to receive funds to help them continue to provide vital support to women who have experienced breast cancer.
HER Breast Friends offers a range of services from monthly coffee mornings, Pink Pamper Days, wig and bra banks to their Breast Awareness Campaign and the Buddleia Therapy Service; as well as many other things in between.
HER Breast Friends isn’t just about support though, it aims to inspire and encourage, and really make a difference by helping to promote a positive approach to living with the disease.
Tracy applied for £500 to support the charity’s Pink Pamper Day which has now been rescheduled for October due to coronavirus. The Pamper Day is open to anyone who has received treatment for breast cancer in the Hull and East Riding area.
Becki’s application is for purchasing new wigs for the charity’s wig bank. Clients get their wigs and a range of accessories for a suggested donation currently of £10 per wig, with all proceeds, going to HER Breast Friends.
Although the HER Breast Friends office has had to close due to the coronavirus, the team have been busy working from home to support its members as much as possible. Find out more by visiting their website – https://herbreastfriends.org.uk/.
