The New York Marathon is one of the 6 major marathons worldwide and has now confirmed its support for the work we and the International Institute for Race Medicine (IIRM) are doing. In November Tim Good and two colleagues from Loughborough University, Dr Stephen Meres and Dr Phil Watson, traveled to New York to meet with both the leaders of the New York Marathon and also the leadership of the IIRM.
Excellent progress was made and New York confirmed its commitment to the goal of ensuring the runner safety and medical best practice in both large and small events around the world. Tim, Steve and Phil were also able to observe all the procedures and protocols at the event. This was especially useful for the project we are undertaking with Loughborough University.
