In January, one of our members, Becki Winter applied to the Foundation to champion the Special Stars Foundation, a charity based in Hull that focusses on improving the quality of life of people with significant learning disabilities and their families across Hull and East Yorkshire.
They achieve this by providing a diverse calendar of creative learning and social activities as well as a range of support, training and advice services for parent carers.
The £500 championing grant will help towards buying specialist equipment and sensory toys to loan out to people with significant learning or physical disabilities.
