The Will Garvey Trust Foundation was founded by Joanna Garvey and her husband following the loss of their son, Will, at the age of 20. The Foundation’s mission is to create talking communities where suicide prevention is prioritised, helping young people feel supported and valued in times of crisis.
The charity’s flagship project, the Wellbeing Library, offers a mental health resource hub for secondary schools. It provides a range of books, leaflets, and journals to support young people’s emotional wellbeing. In addition, Wellbeing Workshops are hosted across schools, colleges, and community groups, ensuring that young people have the tools to manage their mental health. Their Wellbeing Care Packs, delivered to young people in crisis, include essential resources and self-care advice, with recipients sharing their stories of how the packs have brought hope during difficult times.
The Foundation’s services are tailored to meet the real needs of young people, developed through extensive consultations with them. With strong community backing and partnerships with organisations like Christians Against Poverty (CAP) and EMA Training, the charity aims to expand the reach of its work, as the demand for youth mental health services grows.
Funds from the John Good Group would be used to further extend the Wellbeing Care Pack project, reaching more young people in crisis. This will help meet the increasing demand for support and provide a lifeline for vulnerable young people.
