Fairplay supports children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, and their families, across North Derbyshire. Operating from a purpose-built centre in Chesterfield with 1.6 acres of garden space, Fairplay offers services like play schemes, youth clubs, activity days, and family trips. With a team of 80 staff, they currently support over 400 families, providing both respite and opportunities for children to develop life skills through flexible, child-centred care.

Fairplay provides vital support to children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, as well as their families, across North Derbyshire. Operating from its purpose-built centre in Chesterfield, which includes 1.6 acres of garden space, Fairplay offers a comprehensive range of services for families with children and young people aged 0-25. These services include play schemes, Saturday clubs, youth clubs, activity days, themed groups, independent living groups, parent support groups, and family trips. With a dedicated team of 80 staff members, Fairplay currently supports over 400 families.

In collaboration with Clinical Commissioning Groups and a specialist Community Children’s Nurse, Fairplay also delivers home-based care for children with complex, potentially life-limiting or life-threatening health conditions. This child-centred, flexible service is tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and family, offering both medical and emotional support.

Fairplay’s services provide essential respite for parents while also offering children and young people opportunities to develop important life skills. Through these initiatives, Fairplay makes a lasting, positive impact on families, enhancing their well-being and creating meaningful experiences that truly make a difference in their lives.

SDL Minorfern Visit Fairplay

Julie Salter, HR Director at SDL Minorfern, visited Fairplay and spent two hours engaging with the young adults there. She found the experience inspiring and moving, observing the participants happily involved in activities like cooking and making snacks. The visit highlighted the positive impact of Fairplay’s work, and Julie was deeply impressed by the supportive environment.

£4,000 Granted

Fairplay has been awarded a £4,000 grant from the Minorfern Foundation. The funds were raised through a combination of Tough Mudder fundraising efforts and a direct grant from the Minorfern Foundation.
