Girl Scout helps in Ethiopia

Kevin Harrison, MD of Good Travel, is closely connected with the Scouts Group in Hedon, Hull. He received an application for financial support from a young lady called Alyx Adams who attends the guide pack which Kevins daughter attends, and whose mother is also a teaching assistant at his daughter’s school.

Alyx was been selected by Girlguiding Northeast to go to Ethiopia in August 2013 to carry out a community project based upon improving quality education for children and young people aged between 7 and 18. The main aim is to build a classroom and toilets, and improve the provision of clean water. The guides are to help both practically during their visit and also as part of a fundraising effort to provide the facilities above.

The cost of the expedition was £2500 and Alyx was raising money locally in Hedon through various methods including a cake stall, sponsored event and her own personal money. Kevin applied to the Foundation in support of Alyx, to which we were happy to help with a £300 grant. We hope to update you with he progress in the near future!
