We’re pleased to share our annual review for 2020, and we’re delighted to confirm that in 2020 we pledged £85k to charities and good causes, making 2020 our biggest year of giving yet!
It was amazing to see so many employees supporting small charities and local causes with Championing Grants, which allow employees to nominate a charity to receive a £500 donation (or £1,000 if you’re a volunteer). In 2020, we received 71 championing applications, resulting in grants of over £40,000 to charities and good causes.
While fundraising was more difficult due to the pandemic restrictions, we also saw some fantastic efforts to raise money for good causes that the Foundation double matched.
We continued to support charities that operate overseas, such as WaterHarvest, by producing a further film for them, and the Tropical Biology Association, whom we’re supporting to provide training that builds capacity for people in conservation in Africa. We’re also pleased to be supporting United Nations Environment Programme accredited ‘Green Fins’ as they continue their mission to reduce the significant environmental impact that tourism has on the marine environment.
Looking ahead, in 2021, we’re excited to have launched our first external fund, ‘Grants for Good‘, where John Good Group employees will vote for their favourite of five shortlisted small nonprofits and social enterprises to receive a share of £10,000 every three months.
We hope you enjoy reading our story of 2020. We are hugely grateful to everyone at the John Good Group for their continued support and look forward to making an even bigger impact in 2021.
