Partner Case Studies
In 2026, the Oades Family Trust became the first external partner to join Grants for Good. Twice a year, family members review a shortlist of small charities and vote on which ones receive funding. Together, they support six grassroots causes annually, giving £12,000 in total, with awards of up to £3,000 each. The fund was designed to help younger generations of the family learn about philanthropy. And because Grants for Good’s core costs are already covered by the John Good Group, every pound they give reaches charities directly, with no admin fees involved.
In 2024, the Matthew Good Foundation helped SDL Car Parts launch the Minorfern Foundation – a brand-new giving programme built to mark the company’s 45th anniversary. Employees nominated local charities close to their hearts, with the Foundation managing shortlisting, due diligence and comms behind the scenes. With support for the first two years via the Matthew Good Foundation, the programme awarded £80,000 to 21 grassroots organisations across the Midlands and the North. That success gave the SDL Car Parts team the confidence to run the programme independently.
Since 2011, the Matthew Good Foundation has run John Good Group’s employee giving programme – turning company support into real funding for small UK charities.
Employees vote, nominate, and get involved directly, deciding where funding goes. In 2024 alone, this partnership awarded over £132,000 to grassroots causes and saw employees complete 489 volunteering hours.
It’s a programme built on genuine ownership – and one that has inspired the model we’re now bringing to other businesses.
