In September, Sarah Price, who works for Good Travel Management, took part in the Race for Life to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
This year, the Race for Life took place on the 26th September and coincidentally this date also marked ten years since Sarah’s mum lost her battle to cancer, aged 57.
Talking about her motivation to start running, Sarah said, “After being furloughed due to Covid-19, I started my running journey during the lockdown and given the personal importance of the date this particular race falls on, I felt it a fitting way to pay tribute to my mum whilst also raising vital funds that have been depleted this year due to the epidemic.”
Sarah ran the 10k event in an impressive 1 hour and 59 seconds and raised an incredible £620. And with the Foundation’s Double Match Funding, Sarah’s fundraising total is £1860!
Sarah continued, “I don’t find any run easy; every run to me is a challenge! So, when I’m running, and my legs start to throb and my ankles and knees hurt, I think about how tough mum was, and how I must have some of that in me – it keeps me going to the end!
I’m really grateful to everyone who sponsored me and for the double match funding from the Foundation. After a year where vital cancer trials have been delayed, this money will go towards Cancer Research UK’s lifesaving work, funding laboratories, tests and treatments of all 200 types of cancer.”
Huge congratulations to Sarah on a fantastic accomplishment!
