Over 10,000 cases of domestic violence and abuse are reported to the police in Hull and the East Riding every year. Hull Women’s Aid are the only domestic abuse service in Hull to offer 24 hour cover 365 days a year. The main refuge accommodates 13 women and as many children as those women have. In the last year 35 women and their children have been accommodated and been supported to regain control over their lives. The Foundation has supported Hull Women’s Aid this year to help fund Christmas presents for the 15 children in residence and to contribute towards the repairs to the children’s playground to make it safe.
