The Matthew Good Foundation has donated £500 to House of Light, a Hull-based charity founded in 2007 that has helped thousands of women and their families come through Antenatal and Postnatal Illness. House of Light was nominated by Joanne Dayes, Management Accountant at John Good Logistics, who applied for a championing grant to support the charity.
Postnatal depression (PND) is a type of depression some women experience after having a baby. It can develop anytime in the first year after giving birth. PND is more common than people realise; it can affect 1 in 7 mothers anytime in the first year after giving birth. While the exact cause is still unknown, there is a lot that can be done to help and the quicker a Mother receives help the faster she will recover.
Sarah Straker, Director of Service at House of Light was thrilled to receive the Championing Grant and shared a little about how the donation will be put to good use by the charity.
