Girls Assemble is creating a dedicated workshop based in Cornwall offering girls and young women aged 9-25 the opportunity to build the world they want to live in. This female-only workshop will provide classes in carpentry, welding, architecture, engineering, and activist art with an emphasis on STEM subjects. Integrating technical skills, education and career guidance, community participation and leadership, all their classes equip girls with tools to engage with and build the world they want to see.
In the UK 24% of the STEM workforce are female and 12.5% of construction jobs are held by women. Girls Assemble want to readdress this imbalance and empower girls to be trailblazers.
Girls Assemble will provide workshops in carpentry and woodworking to girls who are NEET or at risk of becoming NEET. Teaching technical skills alongside career/ education guidance and mentorship.
Funding from the Matthew Good Foundation will fund free places on the community building workshops for girls aged 13 to 18 years. Girls Assemble will take the girls out into the community to build projects that matter. A cutting table for a textiles CIC, shelving for a women’s centre, an outdoor kitchen for a community garden are just some of the projects you can expect.

"Please help us support girls and young women into STEM and construction industries. In the UK 24% of the STEM workforce are female and 12.5% of construction jobs are held by women. We want to readdress this imbalance and help girls to be trailblazers within these industries. This isn't just about statistical gain. We truly believe that having more women in these career paths is for the betterment of our world. By voting for us we can offer free support to girls who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) or at risk of being NEET, providing technical skills, education and career guidance, as well as emotional support.
