Grants for Good Kicks Off 2025 with £15,000 Community Funding

The Matthew Good Foundation is delighted to announce the first Grants for Good funding round of 2025, awarding £15,000 to five small charities and non-profit organisations making a real impact in their communities.

With this latest round, the total funding distributed through Grants for Good has now reached more than £200,000 since its launch in 2021. Funded by the John Good Group, the programme provides vital support to grassroots initiatives, with an employee-informed shortlisting process and the final amount for each project decided by the employee vote.

This round’s recipients are:

🏅 Boss & Brew Academy – £2,000

The Matthew Good Foundation is committed to backing small charities and community organisations that often struggle to access funding. By providing unrestricted grants, the Foundation helps them sustain and expand their vital work.

Their team, made up of passionate volunteers and specialists, actively collaborates with local communities to enhance biodiversity and inspire action for marine conservation.

The Will Garvey Trust Foundation, based in Derbyshire, was established following the death of Will Garvey. Its mission is to create ‘talking communities’ to prevent youth suicide. Through Wellbeing Libraries, Workshops, and Care Packs, the Foundation supports young people facing mental health challenges. Their impactful initiatives offer vital resources and reassurance, fostering a community where young people feel heard, supported, and hopeful.

Dad La Soul is reshaping the narrative of fatherhood with its unique Trojan Horse approach. By providing dads with a kick-ass social life and a ready-made, expert, peer-led support network, they create a space for fathers to talk about what they usually ignore. Many dads feel isolated and overwhelmed, struggling with the pressures of parenthood and modern life. Through their sessions, Dad La Soul helps fathers reconnect, find support, and strengthen their roles.

By addressing both food insecurity and deer overpopulation, Fair Feast is creating a sustainable and impactful solution for local communities in Scotland. They process surplus deer into nutrient-dense venison products, reducing waste while providing low-carbon, healthier, protein-rich food to food banks. Through strategic partnerships and innovative operations, Fair Feast is making a lasting difference in both community wellbeing and environmental conservation.

Boss & Brew Academy is a Cardiff-based social enterprise empowering young people through the art of coffee. Focused on boosting confidence, enhancing employability, and promoting diversity in hospitality, the charity offers free barista training and work experience opportunities to young people who might otherwise struggle to access them. With deep community ties, the organisation is tackling Cardiff’s youth unemployment, building skills, transforming futures, and inspiring positive change.
